I love the strange armor the angel is wearing, especially the purple and bluish green colors, and how they contrast with the rusty dark steel of the Phyrexian behind her. The light emitting from her really makes it. Masterful, as usual.
I remember you describing this to me a while back. I really didn't know what to expect. I should have guessed it'd be this awesome. This set looks pretty amazing and this is easily one of my favorites in the set. I suspect this is one you'll have a difficult time letting go. Still, if you ever do want to get rid of it...

ReplyDeleteman -it's got the great Chris Rahn Glow to it..(and she's pretty healthy looking) - what's not to like?
ReplyDeletedig this a lot sir
Oh heck yeah! This is awesome!
ReplyDeleteWow I really like this one :D! Love the beams of light creating the distance between the monster hands and the body.
ReplyDeleteMan, that glow is killing me. So damn good.
ReplyDeleteThanks guys! It's good to see this one get a lot of love, I've always had kind of mixed feelings about it.
ReplyDeleteSteve - Don't tempt me, I could use another one of yours in the new studio.
Scott - Yeah, we like em 'healthy looking' around here.
Bik - Nailed it, that's the reference I got for this one. It was so over the top I didn't wind up changing it much.
The fact this is done in oils I find mind blowing alone. The streaks of light behind the angel's head remind me of hair - is that intentional?
ReplyDeleteHas she fallen from grace? Are those tears or is it her blood? Sorry to ask, but I'm new to your work. Tears of the Fallen, maybe?
yeah, just name it AWESOME.
ReplyDeleteThis is now named as "Enslave", a reprint of the Zoltan Boros / Gabor Szikszai card originally from Planar Chaos.
ReplyDeleteGreat work, it looks fantastic : )
Will you be re-uploading this one in PNG like your other illustrations from New Phyrexia?
