Hey everyone! Sorry for the long wait, between working and traveling the old blog has been sadly neglected over the past couple of months. Anyway, I had an amazing time last week at IlluXCon in Allentown, PA. So much incredible original art I thought my eyes were gonna wear out and the new venue is fantastic. I highly recommend checking it out next year if you haven't already.
Alright, first up we have Ashen Rider. I had a ton of fun working on this one, I couldn't get those Meatloaf 'Bat out of Hell' album covers out of my head the whole time I was working on it. The concept is similar, she's traveling to the plane of the living from the underworld. The original for this one is currently up on Ebay, if you're interested check it out here.
Voyage's End - 14 x 18 in., oil on masonite
This next one shows the edge of the world of Theros and an unfortunate sailor who survived a shipwreck only to wind up here. I don't get a lot of opportunities to do more conceptual work like this but I really like doing this kind of stuff, something about the combination of such a serene scene with a really ominous second read when you look closely.
Been looking forward to seeing these ones close up. Absolutely amazing stuff Chris, the lighting on both pieces is absolutely phenomenal!
ReplyDeleteAwesome Chris! Ashen Rider is just amazing, probably one of your strongest pieces so far. Good luck with the auction, though I don't think you'll need it. =)
ReplyDeleteYup - love Voyage's End - and Ashen Rider is a knock out, man. I felt my face bones crack a little seeing this one in person. Should probably ingest more calcium....
ReplyDeleteThanks guys!
ReplyDeleteSteve - mother of god, you should really talk to a doctor about that :)
